The Be Smart Award scheme is designed to promote greater understanding of the vital role that water plays in our lives today. The four goals set the context for the project and will be the focus for the final assessment.
Monitor the school's water use
This requires pupils to identify where, when, why and how much water is used in school. There are several ways to monitor the school's water use.Promote water efficiency within the Curriculum, Campus and Community
The pupils should identify ways to save water in and around the school and implement these ideas. Our definition of water efficiency means using water wisely and avoiding wasting water.Promote the health benefits of drinking tap water
There is a large amount of research to show that drinking water has very positive health benefits. The pupils should understand the good reasons for drinking tap water and design a campaign to persuade others to do the same.Promote greater understanding of water issues locally and globally
In Britain we often take water for granted. This goal expects pupils to have compared what it is like to live in a country where safe water and sanitation are not available.
