Thank you to our sponsor for 2012 - Prescient Power

Based in Ashby de la Zouch and operating throughout the UK, Prescient Power is a small and agile company that aims to make renewable energy a simple and viable alternative to fossil fuels.

The aim is to help us all reduce our carbon emissions, offering renewable energy solutions for homes and businesses, such as solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbine power, heat pumps systems, solar thermal panels, hydroelectricity and biomass boilers and electricity.

The shortlisted projects:

Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel

Situated near Castle Donington, the hotel is strongly committed to improving its environmental performance, with staff playing an integral part in promoting the hotel as a green destination. The owners have installed 46 solar panels to provide energy to the conference and function rooms and have recently installed three reed beds to help filter the hotel’s waste water. They produce their own venison and as far as possible grow their own fruit and vegetables for use on site. In the past year hotel staff have reduced waste to landfill by 50% and recycle glass, paper and plastic.

FC Cartons Ltd

Castle Donington-based FC Cartons Ltd is one of the UK’s leading providers of carton gluing and finishing to the Print and Packaging industry. They have held ISO14001 accreditation for the past six years and continue to work hard to reduce their carbon footprint. A major success was reviewing and realigning the pallet wrapping process to reduce waste. They have also switched to a zero to landfill recycling solution.
