Introducing the Footprints Challenge
Richard Blunt, Chairman of the LSP, and Christine Fisher, Chief Executive, introducing the Footprints Challenge
"One of the biggest things people ask us about North West Leicestershire is how we can make the district a cleaner and greener place. Whether is it clearing up our streets, improving recycling or tackling bigger things like the amount of carbon we as a community pump into the atmosphere, the environment is something that more and more people tell us they are concerned about.
To help answer peoples' concerns, the Council, local businesses, other public organisations and voluntary groups are challenging everyone to change the way they act to make the environment a better place, basically to leave a better 'environmental footprint'.
During the year we will be holding loads of events and activities to get people involved and in May next year we will be giving out the first Footprints Awards to the individuals, families and groups who are having a real impact on the environment.
This website is packed full of tips, advice and suggestions to help people save energy, pollute less and, in many cases save money too. Whoever you are, young or old, you can do a bit to help. Why not have a look through the site and see how you can make a difference? We all have the chance to improve the environment of North West Leicestershire and don't forget to come back regularly to see what's new."
